June 2026: Feeding under an Unforgiving Sun
Share
Summer changed the rhythm of the work. The meals kept coming, but the heat demanded more.
When temperatures climb, feeding street cats becomes about more than just kibble. A bowl of dry food means little to a cat suffering from dehydration in the midday heat.
So in June, we adapted. Water bowls appeared beside every food dish. Mornings started earlier to avoid the worst of the sun. And the familiar faces returned—including May's kittens, now noticeably bigger—gathering at the spots they've learned to trust. Here's what June looked like on the ground.
When Hydration Is Just as Vital as Nourishment
Summer is brutal on strays. Shade is hard to find. Clean water is even harder. And the heat can take a toll in days that hunger would take weeks to match.
Our partners made water a standard part of every run. A fresh bowl beside each meal, topped up at every stop.
On the sweltering days, the cats drank first. Deep, grateful sips before they even glanced at the food next to them.
It's an easy detail to overlook when you think about feeding. But in June, water was every bit as essential as the meals your purchases provide.
Mornings and Evenings, Avoiding the Peak
By midday in June, the pavement burns too hot for any creature to linger. So our partners shifted with the sun.
Earlier rounds before the heat took hold. Later visits once the air began to cool. The cats adjusted quickly, gathering in the shaded corners of their usual spots.
Same locations, same trust—just a different time of day.
The work bends around the weather, but it never stops. That reliability is exactly what your orders make possible.
May's Kittens, Growing Strong
Remember the litter discovered beneath the stairs? In June, you'd barely recognize them.
The two who stayed with their mother are now half-grown, eating solid food and holding their place at a full bowl beside the adults.
They learned the spot from her—the route, the timing, the safe corner. Just as the next generation will learn from them.
This is what "month after month" truly builds. Not just a single meal, but a place a cat can count on for a lifetime.

WHAT'S NEXT
June is behind us, but the work continues. July feeding operations are already scheduled, with extra water stops remaining in place and our team keeping a close watch on the kittens as they continue to grow.
You'll receive the July update in early August, complete with fresh photos from the field.
Every t-shirt, hoodie, or accessory you purchase helps us provide 10 meals to cats in need.
FROM ALL OF US
Thank you for being part of this.
The cats in these photos are alive and eating because thousands of people decided that a simple purchase could mean something more.
You're one of those people.
That means more than we could ever put into words.
